THREE QUESTIONS YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ANSWER ABOUT 

1. WHAT IS A ZNAME?

Your ZNAME is all of the characters of your ETSU email address that precede the "@" symbol.

2. HOW DO I LEARN MY ZNAME?

1. Go to http://www.etsu.edu
2. Near the top right side of this page you will see a box that says "Enter Search Terms". In this area type your last name. Adjacent to this box you will see "Select Type of Search". Select "People Finder" and click "Go".
3. When the results appear locate your name.
4. Your ZNAME is all characters before the @ symbol in your email address. (e.g., zjb123@mail.etsu.edu)
5. If your name does not appear in the results, contact OIT at 423-433-4OIT. 

3. WHY DO I NEED A ZNAME?

You will need your ZNAME when checking your email and when you log into the ETSU Blackboard Course Management System for your online courses.

*BLACKBOARD USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS

1. USERNAME: Your Blackboard  username is your official ETSU email Z-name.

• For example, if your ETSU email address is zez123@imail.etsu.edu, then your  username is zez123. All ETSU students are assigned an email address during registration.

2. PASSWORD: Your Blackboard  password is your ETSU student number( no blank spaces nor dashes).
